WWF Greece is looking for a dedicated Energy Policy Officer to join our team and help us lead the way toward a clean, renewable, and just energy future.
Role profile
As an Energy Policy Officer, you will play a key role in influencing energy policies at the national and EU levels, while also contributing to WWF’s global climate and energy team. You will work with a dynamic team to drive transformative policies that promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. Your efforts will directly contribute to WWF’s mission to safeguard the planet’s ecosystems while supporting the transition to a climate neutral economy.
Key responsibilities
- Policy development and advocacy: Help shape WWF Greece’s advocacy efforts on energy policy, focusing on phasing-out oil and gas, while developing renewable energy and storage in an environment friendly and socially inclusive manner.
- Policy advocacy: Communicate WWF’s energy policy positions to policy-makers through reports, briefings, and presentations.
- Research and analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of energy systems, trends, and policies to provide strategic recommendations and inform WWF’s energy-related campaigns.
- Strategy development: Support the development of WWF’s energy strategy, focusing on the integration of clean energy solutions and the phasing out of fossil fuels.
What we’re looking for
- A strong passion for the environment and a deep commitment to addressing the climate crisis.
- A background in energy policy, environmental sciences, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in energy systems or climate change mitigation.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including politicians and civil society. Previous experience and collaboration with civil society organisations will be considered an advantage.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Additional information
The position refers to the Head of Policy and is part of the environmental policy department team. It requires close cooperation with all departments of the organisation. It is a full-time position based in Athens (one-year contract with renewal option). It requires some travel in Greece and abroad.
