Role profile
The Programme Funding Officer joins an enthousiastic team of fundraising professionals that work to secure the viability and development of WWF Greece programme.
The role contributes to the successful development and negotiation of project proposals, as well as stewarding relationships with funding partners. The core scope of the role is to contribute to building relationships of trust within the funding community and establishing impactful, lasting partnerships.
As part of the WWF Greece Development team, the role also contributes to overall design and monitoring of the organization’s funding and development plans, as well as the development and testing of new fundraising approaches and methodologies.

Key responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role focus on:
- Systematic monitoring of developments in the national and international funding ecosystem and participation/representation in relevant fora, conferences, meetings, etc.
- Working with WWF International and other members of our global network to assure upholding of international fundraising policies and practices and the alignment of our funding needs to international trends and funders’ strategies.
- Supporting the process of developing, advocating and negotiating funding proposals directed to foundations, corporations, the WWF network and others.
- Stewarding of funding partnerships, including the maintenance of communication flows, the fulfillment of reporting and accountability requirements and the observance of marketing and communication agreements.
- Acting as the focal point for the exploration of new corporate partnerships
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 8 years of work experience with proven involvement in fundraising, partnerships coordination, sales or marketing.
- Degree or post graduate diploma on subjects related to WWF work is a plus.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency (spoken and written) in both Greek and English.
- Strong analytical, synthetic and numeric skills
- Awareness and adaptability to variable conditions and settings and good public presence.
- Organizational (esp. lateral leadership) and project management skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under flexible and agile conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and pursue synergies with a wide network of partners and stakeholders.
- Active listening, self-motivation, detail-orientation, comfortable in working both independently and within a team
- IT literacy
Additional Skills
- Communication skills in other languages, esp. in French, are a plus.
- Knowledge of environmental and conservation issues is a plus.
- Exposure to civil society is a plus
Role specifics
The Programme Funding Officer is a member of the Development team, directly reporting to the Head of Development.
The role requires close collaboration with other roles and teams, internally and within the international network, and is expected to deliver in a flexible and agile manner.
This is a full-time position based in Athens (one-year contract with possibility of renewal as open-ended after the first year’s evaluation). It requires some level of travelling in Greece and abroad.
