Welcome to WWF Greece! We are the Greek national office of the WWF global network. Although we are fully aligned with the network’s targets and principals, we are financially independent and develop our strategy according to Greek conservation priorities.

Our mission is to stop the degradation of our planet's natural environment, and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

In order to achieve this mission, WWF focuses its efforts on two broad areas:

The first is to ensure that the earth's web of life - biodiversity - stays healthy and vibrant for generations to come. We are strategically focusing on conserving critical places and critical species that are particularly important for the conservation of our earth's rich biodiversity.

The second is to reduce the negative impacts of human activity – our ecological footprint. We are working to ensure that the natural resources required for life - land, water, air - are managed sustainably and equitably.

Our values:

Armed with positive energy and optimism, we promote solutions to every environmental issue we encounter.

We are passionate about our work and determined to make a difference.

We scientifically justify all our actions and share tangible ecological knowledge to society.

We encourage participation in our activities through open dialogue, synergy and cooperation.

The characteristics which set us apart:

We’re a global organization: we operate across borders, environments and cultures to forge partnerships and engage individuals, communities, NGOs, corporations and governments.

We don’t just identify problems: we use our  experience, our partnerships and our scientific grounding to find solutions, focusing on feasible results and policies.

Integrated approach
We see the big picture: we don’t tackle environmental issues in isolation, but address their social, economic and political causes and effects.

We’re the world’s largest membership network and have been at the forefront of conservation for half a century: we’ve helped bring about historic agreements and inspired millions to take action.

We manage our resources according to the strictest national and international standards, with absolute transparency and under the annual financial inspection of chartered accountants and the Ministry of Financial Affairs.

We honor your trust

As a nonprofit organization, we deeply value the trust that has been placed in us. Partners trust us to carry out joint projects; governments and private entities trust our scientific knowledge and ability to create solutions that serve nature and people; and donors trust us to exploit their funds in nature’s favor. To safeguard this critical trust, WWF is committed to honest practices in governance, accountability and transparency. This commitment is instilled inall aspects of the organization:

Professional management, a clear mid-term strategy, strict financial management according to national and international standards and high quality reports available to the public are some of our practices that exemplify our commitment.

What is more, WWF Greece has signed the INGO Accountability Charter, a commitment of international NGOs to a high standard of transparency, accountability and effectiveness and is also certified by the management standard ISO 9001.
